Kitten Rescue

Last night (July 9, 2008) Hani and I were in the guest room trying out our new portable keyboard that we had recently purchased.  While we were trying to play the song “He giveth more grace”; Hani heard the sound of kittens crying outside the apartment.  So we decided to go and see if everything was ok.  We were looking in our parking lot to see if the kitten was lost underneath a car or something but we heard the cry from the neighboring apartment.

So we decide to walk around the block and go and check this apartment.  Apparently this apartment is on the market and there was a small crack on the parking gate.  So we sneaked in to the back of the apartment from where we’ve been hearing this loud kitten.  When we walked closer the trash bin we saw three small kitten crawling out to us from underneath the trash bin.  They all came meowing towards us.  There was another grown-up cat that was sitting beside the trash bin and didn’t seem to care.  So we decided to get these kittens to our apartment to get them some milk.  And on the way to the apartment we were greeted by our neighbor who lives in the second floor of our next door apartment.  They were excited that we found the crying kittens so they offered us some cat milk (which is 95 lactose free).  I didn’t have any idea until then that a cat could get sick if they drink our regular milk. Our neighbor’s kid works part time in an animal adoption center.  So she gave us their adoption center’s phone number so we could drop the cat off if we couldn’t take care of them.

Anyway we came home and tried to feed these small kittens some cat milk with a spoon. (How NOT smart is that?) We never had to deal with such a tiny kittens before. Our cat Putih was a lot bigger kitten when we got him, we thought he was little but these three kittens that we have now are smaller than a small rat. I don’t think their eyes are open yet. So we couldn’t get them to drink the milk from the spoon, so I ran to Ralphs at 2330 hours to find a syringe or something that we could feed these kittens with and got back home with a baby oral syringe.  After some struggle we finally got all three to drink some milk and Hani was creative enough to come up with a cozy box for these kittens padded with nice white towels.  So they went to sleep after a good late night dinner in their cozy box and we went to our bed with a lot of mixed feelings towards these wonderful, cute, amazing creation of our God.  Though these kittens couldn’t walk that well they sloppily followed us around the house.  Our heart was broken to see these kittens needing love and they blessed us in that and we were able to bless them with showing love in the best way we could to them for now.

We named the three kittens: Yappy, Feisty, and Gentle.  We will write more about why we came up with these names and with some pictures that I took tonight of these kittens in tomorrow’s post.  I’m going to sleep now.  Talk to you later!

PS: By the way if you want to have any (or all) of them you are more than welcome to take them. We already have two full-grown cats.

Married Life

I don’t know if anyone is ever checking this blog. Since we (Hani and I) are married now, we thought that we could start blogging.

Hani and I were married on the 27th of October, 2007 at Duarte, CA. It was a blessed day! A day that I wouldn’t want to forget for the rest of my life. We had all our loved ones on our wedding. It’s so cool to see how God had brought people from different walks of life to bless the both of us.

People had been asking me how it feels to be a married man. It’s hard to describe. “Happy” would be too cheap a word to describe how I feel. It’s more than that. It’s a feeling of joy, assurance, peace and much more mixed together. I look forward to go home from work because I know that I’m not going to a empty house but a ‘home’. Feels good to wake-up in the morning and see Hani’s face (she looks like a little baby in the morning). When it’s cold in the house and don’t have the heater in our room; I can cuddle and be warm with Hani and our two cats. :) Sometimes I don’t prefer to turn on the heater just to cuddle. ;)

It’s good to be married. I know that it’s not going to be a bed of roses and that’s what makes it fun. I was reading this book “How people grow” by Clouds and Townsend this morning. The author mentioned that without suffering a person won’t grow to maturity. Jesus has lived his life as an ultimate example of suffering. Good one for us to follow.

I was chatting with Adele Booysen today and she shared with me something from C.S. Lewis and I want to leave you guys with that:

When I have learnt to love God better than my earthly dearest, I shall love my earthly dearest better than I do now…. When first things are put first, second things are not suppressed but increased.

Back in Los Angeles

After a planned 15 days trip to India turned to an unplanned 37 days trip; I came back to US on the May 9th, 2007. My stay in India was good. I got to spend a lot of time with mom, dad, prasanth (my brother), and viji (my sister-in-law). I got to meet few friends whom I haven’t seen in few years.

One of them was my 8th standard friend his name is Roshan Kant. I also got a chance to meet with his wife-to-be Felicia Radha. They both are quite a joyous couple. I wish I had more time to spend with them together. They are getting married in September 2007. Please keep them in your prayers.

I met Joseph sir during this trip to India. He was the one who lead me to the Lord. It was great to see him. He is now the head-master of the school as well as a pastor! I met his family and spent some good time with them.

Oh, I met with a lot of my undergrad friends from Coimbatore Institute of Technology. Rajkumar Srinivasan was one of my good buddies who flew in to Chennai from Hyderabad just to see me. He is now working for a software firm in Hyderabad and is into money market as well. I was glad that I was able to see him and talk to him. It’s been 4 years since I’ve seen him! I also met with Nalalagappan, Hemachandran, Sathya Christy and Kanimozhi.

This trip to India helped to me spend a lot of time with mom and to connect with my old friends. It was a very profitable time for me in India. In our family we usually travel when we meet together; but this time due to some constraints with my work and visa we were not able to do that; and that turned out to be good! I could not have spent so much quality time with my family if we had traveled.

Thank you mom and dad.
